The Camera is a tool that is used to capture pictures of your character, gudetama around the island, and at Photo Ops. The Camera is unlocked after the player has completed the "Gudetama Snap" quest.

Many quests in the game require taking photos, and many of them specifically require them to be selfies.

Usage

To use the Camera, the player must select it from their Toolbar. Then, the player must press the Camera interaction button to open the photo menu.

In the photo menu, the player can select the Emote they'd like to use. They can also change the orientation of their Player Character using the interaction button or the interaction button to change the orientation of their Player Character and their Friends (including while they are Companions). In the latter case, tapping on the "Group Face Cam" icon (or pressing ▶ (D-pad right) on most Bluetooth controllers) will make the characters face the Camera.

Additionally, the player can change the orientation and angle of the photo using their device's movement controls.

To take a photo, the player must press the Camera interaction button while in the photo menu.

After taking the photo, the player can choose to "Accept" the photo, which will exit the photo menu without saving the photo to their device or "Retake" the photo, which will keep the photo menu open so they can resume taking a photo. Additionally, the player can "Save" the photo, which will save the photo to their device and then exit the photo menu. Photos can be saved to your camera roll if you have turned permissions on.

The player can take photos using their Camera in any location at any time while they play, except during the dialogue segments of quests. Additionally, the player can take photos using their Camera at designated Photo Ops.

Emotes

Your character can emote to pose in photos while taking them. The player will begin their game only with the starter game emotes; however, as the player progresses they'll be able to unlock additional emotes. The player can also unlock Multiplayer emotes via Friendship Tasks — these emotes will only work in Multiplayer sessions.

During Multiplayer and Singleplayer, the player can use the tool wheel ( chat bubble option) to emote or emote while using the Camera during pictures.

When using the emote tool wheel, the player can select 7 emotes from that menu. If the player presses the grid option, a menu will appear that will contain additional emotes to choose from, as well as the option to select a category of emotes. There are three different categories of emotes: Single, Duo, and Group.

"Play Together" Emotes

The "Play Together" promotion was a limited-time Apple Arcade in which various Apple Arcade games participated in various ways. The following emotes were available for use for everyone from June 6, 2024, until July 4, 2024, after which the emotes became unavailable again. However, they returned for the Friendship Festival event later that month.
