Hello Kitty Island Adventure was released on January 30, 2025 on Game Platform - Switch.png Nintendo Switch.

Most updates come out on Apple Arcade Apple Arcade first. The current version of the game on Game Platform - Switch.png Nintendo Switch is approximately equal to Apple Arcade Apple Arcade version 1.9, but all content will come to all platforms eventually. Outside of the differences in update speeds and current content availability, Sunblink is "contractually required to keep the experience the same across platforms," according to a statement from the dev team.

Announced Updates

News Date Version Release Date Notes
February 20, 2025 TBD TBD (Spring 2025) Content Update 1 (CU1)

“Friends, Furniture, and Frozen Peaks”
We’re currently working on Content Update 1 for Switch and PC! This FREE update will include highly requested QoL features like Furniture Stacking (which lets you place multiple items on tables, multiple items on mannequins, furniture on top of furniture, rugs on floors, and more) and Call Friend (so you can companion from anywhere), the expansions to Icy Peak (Blizzard Peak and Snowy Village), and lots of friend content, from bestie quests to character furniture sets.

For those familiar with the Apple Arcade Apple Arcade version, this update will bring Nintendo Switch PC Steam Switch/PC players up to parity with the 2.4 update, minus all second island content (aka no City Town).

Making Friendship Player-Friendlier
In an effort to address some confusing/frustrating UX around gifting friends, we are re-tuning friendship XP and gifts so that the number of hearts on a gift correlates with the amount of friendship and return gifts you receive. To enable this, we’ve made a few under the hood changes, including:

  • +1 bonus for ❤️❤️ gifts
  • +2 bonus for ❤️❤️❤️ gifts

Non-preferred tags each contribute a single point Upgrades to some tags, including Chocolate (common→uncommon), Fruit (common→uncommon), and Mochi Icon (common→rare)

With these changes, two and three heart gifts will see a global increase in efficacy, which should help improve both mid and late game gifting, all while making the mechanic much simpler to understand. This resolves nearly all discrepancies where gifts of a lower heart value could potentially have more benefit to friendship.

This rebalance will go live first in the 2.4 Update on Arcade, (and therefore be part of CU1 for Switch/PC). We will continue to evaluate game balance going forward and make additional minor adjustments.

Update Notes

1.11 - Patch (March 19, 2025)

Hello Nintendo Switch players! Our 1.11 patch is now live and available for download!

Make sure that your Nintendo Switch console is connected to the internet. From the HOME Menu, select the icon for Hello Kitty Island Adventure without starting the game or application. Press the + Button or - Button, then select "Software Update", followed by "Via the Internet".

We fixed a LOT of issues for this patch, but here's some of the big ones that our FANTASTIC COMMUNITY let us know about:

  • Players should not receive "Adventure Together" quests after denying multiplayer
  • Some items used exclusively for quests can no longer be placed in cabins, such as fins and straps
  • Players should no longer lose control when entering the control room in Reboot the Robots
  • Players should no longer lose control when talking to Badtz-maru for the Magic Bubble Wand quest
  • Chococat is no longer reserved for "Bring your Own Bench"

Other

  • Players should no longer freeze when catching a huge Half-Dipped Dace
  • Issues with using the Creation Station to make candles have been fixed
  • Retsuko should no longer walk under the sand

IMPORTANT: If you and your other Switch friends want to play multiplayer, both of you need to be on the latest update patch. Make sure your friends update their game!
