Greenhouse
The
Greenhouse is located in
Merry Meadow near the
Merry Meadows Overlook. It is unlocked once the player has completed the "Grand Garden Gathering" quest. Inside the building is a flower patch ideal for growing and breeding flowers of all types. The size of the flower patch can be expanded using
Worm Tails,
Fertilizer, and
Pollen Puffs to create more of its uniquely rich, deep soil.
Usage
The
Greenhouse is a very powerful tool for gardeners.
Normal flower patches only have a 10% chance of a new seed or plant spawning in an empty flower plot for every fertilized flower touching the plot. Without
Fertilizer, barely any new spawns will appear. Low spawn rates mean that breeding two flowers without
Fertilizer is very unlikely. Normal flower patches also have limited flower compatibility, depending on their biome.
However, the
Greenhouse does not need
Fertilizer for plants to breed. It has a 100% spawn rate in any empty plot touching a plant, meaning that the player can easily get more opportunities at successfully crossbreeding without having to fertilize at all. The only reason to use
Fertilizer in the
Greenhouse is if the player is attempting to apply a default pattern to a plant.
Outside of not requiring
Fertilizer, flowers still follow the normal breeding rules, like requiring a patterned flower to transfer color from one flower type to another.
The
Greenhouse is compatible with flowers from all biomes. That means flowers from any biome can be planted near each other, even flowers as different as the
Heavy Nettle and
Anemone.
There are four exceptions: flowers that can only grow in extreme conditions and cannot be planted in the
Greenhouse.
Frostfeathers can only be grown in the extreme cold of
Icy Peak.
Blazebulbs can only be grown in the extreme heat of the
Caldera.
Crystalias can only be grown in the unique conditions of the
Crystal Caves.
Bubbalunas can only be grown in the unique conditions on the
The Moon.
The
Greenhouse even allows event flowers to breed outside of their
Event. It is the only way new colors of event flowers, such as the
Marigold and the
Eggwort, can be bred after their
Event has ended. The player must still initially obtain event plants/seedlings during their
Event, as seedlings cannot be traded and event flowers cannot be turned into seeds.
Greenhouse Upgrades
The
Greenhouse can be upgraded by
interacting with the flower sign on the right side of the building. There are a total of 5 upgrades for the
Greenhouse. From start to finish, the
Greenhouse requires 640x
Worm Tails, 6000x
Fertilizer, and 4950x
Pollen Puffs to fully upgrade.
