Flower patch with bloomed marigolds in all solid colors.

The marigold is a type of flower and is the event flower for the Colorblaze Carnival Colorblaze Carnival. Because it is an event flower, it only can be obtained by playing during the Colorblaze Carnival. During the Colorblaze Carnival, marigolds have a random chance at appearing in empty flower plots every day at reset.

The marigold's default color is  orange. Other colors can be obtained through crossbreeding only during the Colorblaze Carnival or in the Greenhouse Greenhouse. When fertilized, marigolds have a chance at gaining a Trim Pattern.png trim pattern by default, even outside of the event period. Marigolds that obtained a pattern before the 1.6 update obtained the Ombre Pattern.png ombré pattern instead, but now that pattern is only obtainable in marigolds by transferring it from another flower type.

Event Flower Exceptions

New marigolds can spawn only during the Colorblaze Carnival (Collection) Icon.png Colorblaze Carnival event or if inside the Greenhouse Greenhouse. Marigolds must be able to spawn in order to obtain new colors and non-default patterns.

Marigolds can gain their default pattern in any location at any time of the year through fertilization. Also, patterned marigolds are able to transfer their color or their pattern out to other flower types at any time of the year, in line with the normal color and pattern transfer rules, even if not in the Greenhouse.

As an event flower, the marigold does not have seed packets. Only grown plants or older can be successfully moved with the Trowel Trowel. Plants at the seed and sprout stages give a warning if an attempt to trowel them is made, and the seed or sprout disappears if the player chooses to continue. Plucked flowers cannot be used to make new seeds at the Icon interaction seed dispenser.png Seed Dispenser. Instead, they may be used only for decoration, crafting, or composting.

Colors

Like other flowers, it is possible for marigolds to gain all flower colors through breeding, but only during the Colorblaze Carnival or in the Greenhouse. Refer to the "Crossbreeding" guide on the Flowers page for more details.

For colors that require color transfer only, the player should crossbreed any color of marigold with a patterned flower from another type. The flower should have the desired color as its primary color, not its pattern color. For example, a red & white ombre Dandelily Flower - Red and White Ombre.png dandelily can possibly transfer its red color when crossbred with marigolds. Again, this only works during the Colorblaze Carnival (anywhere) or in the Greenhouse (at any time of year).

Patterns

The following are what orange (the default color) and white look like with the default pattern, trim. The default pattern has a 1% chance of appearing with each application of Fertilizer Fertilizer to a non-patterned flower.

The following is an example of what the marigold looks like with a transferred pattern.
