Enraging Ruins

"Enraging Ruins" is an 'The Island Mystery' quest that unlocks the Red Hot Ruins. The player must be friendship level 7 with Retsuko and have completed the "Power Up the Gate" quest in order to unlock this quest.

"Help Retsuko out in the Red Hot Ruins."

Quest Information

The player speaks to Retsuko outside of the entrance to the Red Hot Ruins in Mount Hothead. Retsuko's shouts will break a nearby boulder, revealing a Red Power Crystal. The player must find a total of three Red Power Crystals in order to unlock the entrance to the Red Hot Ruins and venture into the lava-filled caves with Retsuko and Chococat to search for Retsuko's lost belongings.

Red Power Crystal Locations

There are a total of three Red Power Crystals that the player must find. The three Red Power Crystals are located around the Mount Hothead region. The Red Power Crystal closest to the entrance of the Red Hot Ruins can only be collected after "Enraging Ruins" has begun, but the other two are available before the quest starts.

Once the player has plugged in the three Red Power Crystals, TOPHAT will appear. He will explain his newly found memory and express his concerns about his best friend abandoning him. After TOPHAT leaves, the player must find Retsuko's suitcases, clothes, laptop, and karaoke microphone by navigating through the Red Hot Ruins. Throughout the quest, the player can locate the items via the quest indicator on the map or by following the quest guide's guiding light.

First Suitcase Location

The player must enter through the entrance of the Red Hot Ruins and complete the first puzzle room. In order to complete the first puzzle room, the player must press the white buttons under each indicator so that the purple circle symbol on the indicators face towards the center.

Next, the player must complete the second puzzle room. In order to complete the second puzzle room, the player must make the crystal's color on each side of the room match.

Retsuko's first suitcase will be located on the Red Hot Ruins cliff. Once finding her first suitcase, the player must gift Retsuko the item.

Retsuko's clothes will be located near her first suitcase. Once finding her clothes, the player must gift Retsuko the item.

Second Suitcase Location

The player must enter through the right entrance of the Red Hot Ruins cliff, where the first suitcase and clothes were found. Next, the player must complete the third puzzle room. In order to complete the third puzzle room, the player must place the yellow blocks on the correct button. If the correct buttons are pressed, the stairs will be activated.

Once exiting the third puzzle room, the player must enter the Red Hot Ruins entrance on the left, where they will enter the fourth puzzle room. In order to complete the fourth puzzle room, the player must first press the white button in the center of the room. The cutscene will then showcase the sequence in which the buttons must be pressed. The sequence goes: red heart, blue triangle, green 'x', and yellow star..

In the next room, the player must navigate to the correct exit by climbing up and around the tower, finally reaching the top.

Retsuko's second suitcase will be located on the Red Hot Ruins cliff. Once finding her second suitcase, the player must gift Retsuko the item.

Karaoke Microphone Location

Retsuko's karaoke microphone will be located near her second suitcase. Once finding her karaoke microphone, the player must gift Retsuko the item.

Laptop Location

The player must enter through the right most entrance (that is currently open) of the Red Hot Ruins cliff, where the second suitcase and karaoke microphone were found. The player must complete the fifth puzzle room. In order to complete the fifth puzzle room, the arrows on the three points must be facing the correct way. The player can change the direction of the arrow points by pressing the white button nearby. The arrow indicators must point towards the door that has the same indicator.

Retsuko's laptop will be located on the Red Hot Ruins cliff. Once finding her laptop, the player must gift Retsuko the item.

After giving Retsuko her laptop she will see the hundreds of emails her boss has left her — sparking a sense of rage, she will transform in to Aggretsuko. After her performance, her voice will break the boulder blocking the entrance to the volcano and trigger a landslide. The player must escape with Retsuko and Chococat by entering the newly accessible entrance and riding in the mine cart. The player, Retsuko, and Chococat will be chased down the mine cart track by a huge boulder. Once reaching the end, the player must speak to Retsuko, who is dumbfounded by the newly discovered "ride" down the volcano. Then, the player must meet Chococat outside of the exit to the Hot Springs and speak to him.
