The 
Island Spirit resides at the 
Heart of the Island. The Island Spirit is introduced to the player when completing the "Friendship Never Fades" quest series. The Island Spirit is classified as an special character.
Healing the Island Spirit
How to Earn a Spirit Heart
The player is tasked with healing the Island Spirit by giving her 
Spirit Hearts. With each Spirit Heart, the dark matter that surrounds the Island Spirit slowly disappears.
After the completion of the "Absence Makes the Heart" quest, each following day, the player can bring one of their 
Best Friend 
Island Residents to the Island Spirit.
- In order to do this, the player must have reached maximum friendship with the Island Resident, indicated by a golden heart.
- And, the Island Resident must be available to be the player's companion.
After the completion of the "Return to the Heart" quest series, the Island Spirit will roam freely around 
Friendship Island.
Spirit Heart Step-by-Step Guide

Each day after completing the "Absence Makes the Heart" quest, the player can bring one of their Best Friends to the Island Spirit to earn an additional Spirit Heart.

After the player completes the "Besties, Assemble!" quest, the player can manage Best Friend material collection in one place (the Heart of the Island) by speaking to the Island Spirit instead of speaking to each Best Friend individually to request material collection.
Relationships
LittleTwinStars
The LittleTwinStars are believed to have close connections to the Island Spirit. LittleTwinStars refer to her as "Grandma" and mention that they could see she was special, which is why they were sent to Friendship Island. They found her when she was gray and lifeless, so the LittleTwinStars created TOPHAT and the friendship between TOPHAT and Big Challenges has now brought her to life.
TOPHAT and Big Challenges
TOPHAT and Big Challenges are known to be long-term friends with the Island Spirit; however, during the "Friendship Never Fades" quest series, we learn that the Island Spirit believes TOPHAT and Big Challenges have neglected their relationship with her, which has caused her immense sadness. The player is tasked with healing the Island Spirit and restoring her friendship with TOPHAT and Big Challenges.
Currently unknown - "I. I."
During the "Return to the Heart (quest series)", 
Wish me mell will say that she has a letter, from a "neighbor", for the Island Spirit! The letter asks to "take good care of the neighborhood" and is signed by someone who goes by the name "I. I.". Nothing is currently known about this character.
