Player Character

The player is you, the person joining Hello Kitty and her friends on this island adventure. All players create their own character when starting the game. You can customize your appearance from many different choices. Best of all, you can change your look whenever you want with any convenient mirror!

Abilities

Player abilities depend mainly on the tools you have access to. Some tools must be manually used in order to accomplish tasks, like breaking boulders with the Pickaxe. Others are used automatically as long as you have them, like using the Snorkel to dive underwater. Tools are unlocked through various quests you can complete as you play.

There are no permanent bonuses that you can unlock on your own, but you can have them thanks to your friends! As you befriend the Island Residents, you unlock their Companion Abilities that they can use when they accompany you. Potions can replicate the effects of specific companion abilities.

If you befriend another player through Multiplayer, increasing your friendship with them can also unlock special abilities as long as you both are playing together.

Customization

Your first opportunity for customization comes with the Character Creation screen when starting the a new save file. After designing your character, you will be able to choose a starting outfit, which includes a shirt and pants. As you progress in the game, you will also have the opportunity to acquire head accessories.

After that, your looks can be changed without restrictions at any mirror. You can use the ones in Small Gift Big Smile or the Clothing Shop, or you can place any mirror in a Visitor Cabin and interact with it to use it.

There are currently 6 species of animals to choose from: Bird, Cat, Dog, Bunny, Horse, and Sheep. While choosing a species, you can use the Dice Roll icon (located towards the bottom left side of the side) to shuffle through randomly generated combinations. This feature can help you get started quickly or provide inspiration for your character.

Under the tabs, you can explore different options like body styles, eye styles, mouth styles, color patterns, and color themes (palettes). Each animal species comes with its own unique set of options to match their type. The different body styles set the avatar's basic appearance, including the size.

Note: Some options will never be added because the player's appearance isn't allowed to closely mimic the Island Residents.

Other Palettes

Other avatar palettes (color palettes) can be unlocked as you play. Most are unlocked by increasing your friendship with Island Residents, but some are unlocked in other ways, such as Events. For a full list of other palettes, check the "Color Palettes" page.

Outside of color palettes, there are no other unlockable avatar customization options at this time. Everything else is immediately available.
