The 
Saunarator is a structure located in the 
Caldera of 
Mount Hothead.
How to Unlock
Repairing the Machine
To repair the Saunarator, the player must complete a series of quests that begins with the "Mount Mystery" quest and ends with the "Saunarator" quest.
When repaired, the Saunarator introduces a new weather event, 
Steam. A steam weather event occurs when the Saunarator activates. The player does not have to be nearby. The activation occurs randomly and cannot be influenced by the player. The weather forecast in the player’s menu tablet will show when it is an upcoming weather event.
Manual Activation
After completing the "Rainy Day Delight" quest, the player will be able to manually activate the Saunarator once a week by crafting a 
Steam Island Stone and placing it into the Saunarator. Activating a weather machine causes the weather event to happen in a random region. A currently active machine cannot be manually activated until the weather event ends. Manually activating a machine during another weather event will end the other weather event even if they occur in different regions.
The weather forecast in the player’s menu tablet will show when it is an upcoming weather event and will occur in a random region of Friendship Island.
Steam
Like all weather events, Steam lasts 15 minutes. What appears during Steam depends on where it steams.

Manual Activation
After completing the "Rainy Day Delight" and "Saunarator" quests, the player will be able to manually activate a Steam event once every 7 days by crafting a Steam Island Stone and placing it into the Saunarator. Activating a weather machine causes the weather event to happen in a random region. A currently active machine cannot be manually activated until the weather event ends. Manually activating a machine during a different weather event will end the other weather event even if they occur in different regions.
Steam in Friendship Island
How to Unlock
Weather on 
Friendship Island does not change normally. Steam is only unlocked after repairing the Saunarator during the "Saunarator" quest. After that, the Saunarator will activate during Steam whenever it steams in any region. The player does not need to be near the machine for it to activate.
Thermals
Thermals blocked by boulders will appear during steam only in 
Gemstone Mountain, Mount Hothead, or 
Spooky Swamp. When the boulder is broken with a 
Pickaxe, the player will receive 3x 
Steamdrops. 5x Thermals spawn per Steam. They do not regenerate with the use of 
Island Bouquets. Even if the player was somewhere else during the Steam event, the Thermals with boulders will stay spawned until the Steamdrops are collected or replaced by another Steam event in the same region!
Thermals can also contain:
Tracking Tigersnoots (Full Mix)
Fish Almanac #4 (in Gemstone Mountain only; one per save)
If a find is limited to one per save, it can be found again if the find is collected by a 
Multiplayer visitor instead of by the host.

Steamdrops
Steamdrops are a type of currency obtained by breaking boulders on Thermals during or after steam. Each Thermal contains 3x Steamdrops, if it does not give something else instead.
Critter
When Steam occurs in 
Merry Meadow, the player will be able to catch 
Hearthlings around the region.
Thermals with boulders will not appear in Merry Meadow.
Fish
When Steam occurs in 
Seaside Resort, the player will be able to catch 
Steamy Sunfish, which can be found by fishing around the region, including along the bridge to the 
Cozy Islands.
Thermals with boulders will not appear in Seaside Resort.
