Steamdrop

Steamdrops can be obtained via 
Thermals with boulders, which may spawn in 
Gemstone Mountain, 
Mount Hothead, or 
Spooky Swamp during 
steam in that region. In order to make it steam on Friendship Island, the player needs to unlock the 
Saunarator by completing the "Saunarator" quest.
When the boulder on a Thermal is broken with a 
Pickaxe, it leaves behind 3x Steamdrops (or, more rarely, a 
Music Disc). A total of 15 Steamdrops can be found during steam if all 5 boulders produce Steamdrops. A Thermal will disappear once Steamdrops from its boulder are collected.
Steam in 
Seaside Resort and 
Merry Meadow does not produce boulders or Steamdrops.

TOPHAT's Pickup Glitch ability gives players the chance of doubling Steamdrops picked up, so a boulder could give +6 instead of +3.
