Weekly Quests
Weekly Quests are quests that reset every Monday at 06:00 AM UTC (07:00 AM UTC - Daylight Savings Time) and are available for an entire week. There are always a total of 4 Weekly Quests: 1 from each of the 4 categories. If the player has rejected multiplayer, the Adventure Together quest does not appear.
Types of Weekly Quests
Cooking Adventures requires the player to cook a variety of items using any of the Cooking Stations.
Island Explorer requires the player to collect a variety of materials around 
Friendship Island.
Special Delivery requires the player to gift an Island Resident a certain number of times.
Misc. Quests are other types of Weekly Quests.

Island Explorer
The counters also count collectibles obtained from for instance the 
Collector Hat (and the related 
Best Friends item collection ability), Character Gift Boxes, or simply going to a cabin and placing and removing the same collectible item over and over.
