Island Visitors are characters who will come and stay in Visitor Cabins if an empty cabin is satisfies their requirements. Island Visitors are often friends of Island Residents. If the player talks to a visitor while they are on the island, the visitor will give them a special gift once per day. To unlock Island Visitors, the player must begin the "Friends and Family" quest.
Possible Island Visitors
Visitors will not appear in your Visitors menu until you have met their related Island Resident or met other requirements, such as reaching a specific friendship level for an Island Resident or completing a quest to unlock them.
Visitor Menu
The Tablet in the upper right corner of the screen allows the player to access a variety of menus and features within the game via "applications". The Visitors application allows the player to access information on potential Island Visitors. Selecting a visitor’s icon will show the player:
- The visitor’s Star Rating.
- Length of stay, if currently on the island, or travel dates if currently in the traveling rotation.
- The visitor’s bibliography, including their birthday (if known).
- The visitor’s liked item tag, if any.
- Satisfactory cabins, if any.
- The requirements for the visitor's cabin.
Visitor Requirements
Visitor requirements vary but may include specific regions of the island, specific amounts and types of furniture, and/or specific amounts of items with specific tags.
To see whether a visitor cabin meets the visitor requirements of an Island Visitor, the player can check the visitor’s page in the Menu or the sign of the cabin. Alternatively, while in furnishing mode in the cabin, the player can press the Visitor button on the lower left side of the screen. If the visitors' icon appears, their visitor requirements have been met. Plus signs (+) near a visitor’s icon indicate the number of items in the cabin that match the visitor’s liked item tag (up to five plus signs). Plusses impact the chance that the visitor will visit. The player can also see how many visitors have had their requirements met by a visitor cabin via the number displayed on the Visitor button.
See Furnishing Visitor Cabins for more information on furnishing cabins.
Visitor’s Star Ratings
Stars seen on a visitor’s information page show the visitor’s friendship with the player and appreciation of the island. At a 5-star rating, the visitor will ask to stay permanently.
Requests
Each time an island visitor visits a player's island, they will ask the player to complete one of their requests. The player can only complete one quest per visitor visit. A completed quest raises the visitor’s star rating by 1.
While visitor requests are Daily Quests, the amount of spots available for visitor requests is limited. If an island visitor cannot give a quest, as may happen when several visitors are visiting at once, then the visitor’s stay may be extended to give them more chances to offer the quest.
A visitor may also not give a quest if the player does not meet the requirements to fulfill it. For example, Dear Daniel has special requirements for his 4-star and 5-star quests. A visitor will also not give a quest if they are already at 5-stars.
Residents
Once the player has reached a 5-star rating with an island visitor, the player can then ask the island visitor to stay at their island permanently (as a permanent resident) in the cabin that the island visitor is currently staying in.
An island visitor can be asked to leave even after becoming a permanent resident. They will still be able to visit again in the future, and they will retain their 5-star rating. They can also be asked to move in again during any visit.
An island visitor can be moved to a different cabin once they've become a permanent resident. If the island visitor is required to be located in a specific region, they will only be able to be re-located to another cabin in that region using the "swap" option. For example, Mimmy is required to have a cabin in Seaside Resort and cannot be moved to a cabin in a different region, such as Spooky Swamp. See "Cabin Swapping" for more information.
An island visitor's cabin can be altered after they've become a permanent resident, meaning that the island visitor's cabin requirements do not have to be met once they've become a permanent resident. If the player has not reached a 5-star rating with an island visitor, then the cabin must meet the island visitor's cabin requirements.
Visitor Schedules
Some visitors are available at all times; others have a rotating schedule. If a satisfactory cabin is unoccupied while the visitor is available, the visitor has a 50% chance per visiting daily. The chance is increased by adding items that match the visitor's liked tags to the cabin, with the effect maximized with 5 liked items.
When a visitor visits, the length of their stay is listed on their page in the Visitors Menu as well as on the sign of their cabin. During the last day on their schedule, they will not be on the island; they leave at the start of the day (also called "reset"). If a visitor leaves at reset, the cabin that they left may be treated as occupied for the day even though no one is in it. If the player claims an occupied Visitor Cabin, the visitor immediately leaves the island the same day. Visitors cannot visit occupied cabins.
Visitors cannot visit the day that they are scheduled to leave, and they also cannot visit the day after they are kicked out by the player moving in. This prevents new visits from happening two days in a row.
Some visitors only travel according to either a seasonal or a weekly visitation schedule.
A visitor has a 100% chance of visiting an unoccupied satisfactory cabin on their birthday even if the visitor is otherwise not currently traveling.
Seasonal Rotation Schedule
Most travelers who follow a seasonal schedule can visit any day during the length of their 3-month season. Certain visitors are on a weekly rotation during their season.
Season | Months | Visitors | Schedule |
---|---|---|---|
Summer | June July August |
Pam | All season |
Tam | All season | ||
Fall | September October November |
Baku | All season |
Berry | Biweekly | ||
Cherry | Biweekly | ||
Winter | December January February |
Pam | All season |
Tam | All season | ||
Spring | March April May |
Macaron | All season |
Weekly Rotation Schedule
Travelers who follow a weekly schedule travel from Thursday to Monday of their week (5 days total). A traveler is not guaranteed to visit every day possible while they are traveling. They have the usual 50% chance per day before the boost from liked items. (Refer back to "Visitor Requirements" section for more information on liked items.)
Travelers also have a guaranteed "pity" visit after missing 2 possible visiting days. The day that a visitor leaves (technically at the reset between the previous day and that day) does not count towards a pity visit. Also, pity does carry over between traveling periods. For example:
- If Mocha misses Thursday and Friday, she is guaranteed to visit Saturday.
- If Mocha visits on Friday and leaves at reset, she cannot visit Saturday, so she does not have a guaranteed visit on Sunday or Monday.
- However, if Mocha misses both Sunday and Monday in the above scenario, she is guaranteed to visit Thursday when she next travels.
For the table below, dates are in Year/Month/Day format. Lloromannic ( Berry and Cherry) are part of the rotation during Fall (September 1 to November 31) only.
Note: Poron’s schedule switched to the alternate weeks from her previous ones in 1.9.5 so that her schedule would not overlap with Corune’s.

Visitor Icons
If a visitor does not have an icon on their image in the Visitors Menu, that means that the visitor is not currently on the island but is able to visit if their requirements are met.
The gray not icon indicates that an island visitor is not currently traveling and therefore will not visit the player's island.
The indigo plane icon indicates that the island visitor will be traveling soon.
The blue stopwatch icon indicates that the island visitor is traveling and therefore can visit if their cabin requirements have been met.
The brown location icon indicates the visitor is currently visiting the player's island, and the player can interact with the visitor.
The brown home icon indicates the visitor is currently a permanent resident on the player's island, and the player can interact with the visitor.
