The Spooky Celebration, also known as Kuromi's Spooky Celebration, was an Event that launched for the 1.2 update of Hello Kitty Island Adventure. It was originally preceded by Summer's End Celebration (now the Sunshine Celebration) and followed by Fall Fashion Frenzy, and it was the third available event in-game. Currently, the preceding events are Scholastic Celebration and Jam Jamboree. The Spooky Celebration is Halloween-themed and originally ran from October 1, 2023, until the end of November 4, 2023.

The Spooky Celebration will be available annually around the month of October.

Overview (2024)

This season, Kuromi and My Melody are combining the things they love to create a new fashion for the island that is both Spooky and Cute. The main purpose of this event is to celebrate the spooky season. This is done via the user collecting Spooky Treats and using them to purchase Spooky Celebration clothing or Spooky Celebration furniture at the Celebration Stand. There are 51 types of items in this event's Collection Goals, including items from the previous year's event.

Spooky Treats

Spooky Treats are the main form of currency for the Spooky Celebration event. They can be used to purchase limited-time goods from the Celebration Stand in the Resort Plaza. They are obtained from trick-or-treating with Island Residents or by completing Daily Quests.

A total of 3x Spooky Treats can be earned each day by playing "Trick or Treat" with Island Residents. (See the section below for more information on how to play trick-or-treat.) In addition, the player can earn 1x Spooky Treat per Daily Quest. A grand total of 7x Spooky Treats can be earned each day: 3x from residents and 4x from quests.

If a player misses 1-2 days of trick-or-treating, they can earn more treats from trick-or-treating to make up for the lost days. They can get 6x Spooky Treats if they missed the previous day and 9x Spooky Treats if they missed the previous 2 days.

Trick-or-Treat

In order to play "Trick or Treat", the player has to be wearing at least one clothing item that either is spooky or counts as a costume piece, and the time of day has to be night. Time can be changed using a bed placed in a Visitor Cabin or with Pekkle's "Dance All Night" companion ability. If both conditions are met, when the player talks to the Island Resident, they are given the dialogue option to "Trick or Treat!". They receive Spooky Treats until they hit their limit for the day, after which they instead receive a regular item as a "Trick". Each Island Resident gives a specific item as a Trick.

Outfits for Characters

Participating in the event can unlock different outfits for certain Island Residents. Once obtained, the player can ask the character to change into the outfit at any time. These are mostly unlocked through cutscenes that automatically trigger at resets sometime during the event.
